Selena Gomez Stuns in a Red Dress at the Premiere of Only Murders in the Building
Selena Gomez looked gorgeous in a red mini dress at the premiere of her new Hulu series, Only Murders in the Building, on Tuesday night. The 29-year-old singer and actress posed for photos on the red carpet with her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, who play amateur sleuths in the comedy-mystery show.
The dress, which featured a plunging neckline and ruffled sleeves, was from the Valentino Resort 2022 collection. Selena accessorized her look with a matching red clutch, gold hoop earrings, and strappy heels. She also wore her hair in a sleek bun and opted for a natural makeup look.
Selena plays Mabel Mora, a young woman who lives in a luxury apartment building in New York City, where a mysterious death occurs. She teams up with two of her neighbors, Charles (Martin) and Oliver (Short), who share her obsession with true crime podcasts, to investigate the case. Along the way, they discover that everyone in the building has secrets and motives.
Only Murders in the Building is Selena’s first major TV role since Wizards of Waverly Place, which ended in 2012. She also serves as an executive producer on the show, along with Martin and Short. The show has received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, who praised the chemistry and humor of the trio.
The first three episodes of Only Murders in the Building are now streaming on Hulu. New episodes will be released every Tuesday until October 19.
In an interview with Variety, Selena revealed that she was a fan of Martin and Short’s work and that she was nervous to work with them. “I was very intimidated,” she said. “They’re legends, and I’ve grown up watching them. They’re brilliant. They’re kind and they’re humble. They were just so welcoming to me.”
She also shared that she related to her character Mabel, who is a loner and a misfit in the building. “I think I’m very similar to Mabel in that way,” she said. “I love being alone. I love being by myself. I think it’s important to have that time.”
Selena also expressed her gratitude for being able to work on a project that made her happy during a difficult time in her life. “This was such a nice way to come back into acting,” she said. “I was dealing with a lot of health stuff, and I just wanted to do something that would make me laugh.”
Only Murders in the Building is not the only project that Selena has been working on lately. She also released her first Spanish-language EP, Revelación, in March, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Latin Albums chart. She also launched her own beauty brand, Rare Beauty, in September 2020, which aims to promote self-love and mental health awareness.
Selena has also been vocal about her own struggles with mental health, especially during the pandemic. She revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020 and that she has been taking medication and therapy to cope. She also said that she has been focusing on her hobbies and passions, such as cooking, reading, and watching movies.
Selena said that she hopes to inspire her fans to take care of themselves and to pursue their dreams. “I want to be a voice for people who feel like they don’t have one,” she said. “I want to make people feel good about themselves and to know that they’re not alone.”
