Mwingi accident Rest in peace song By Mr Wise: A tribute to the victims of the bus tragedy

On December 4, 2021, a bus carrying Catholic choir members who were travelling to a wedding in central Kenya was swept off a bridge into the flooded Enziu river. The accident claimed the lives of at least 23 people, including four children, and left 12 survivors. The driver was reportedly unfamiliar with the route and attempted to cross the fast-flowing water over the bridge in Mwingi, Kitui county.

The incident shocked and saddened many Kenyans, who expressed their condolences and prayers for the families of the victims. Among them was Mr Wise, a popular gospel singer and songwriter, who composed a song titled “Mwingi accident Rest in peace” as a tribute to the departed souls. The song, which was uploaded on YouTube on December 5, 2021 , features emotional lyrics and images of the accident scene and the victims.

In the song, Mr Wise mourns the loss of his fellow choir members and friends, and asks God to comfort their loved ones. He also praises their dedication to serving God through music and hopes that they are resting in peace in heaven. He sings: “You were our heroes, you were our stars / You sang for God with all your hearts / You left us too soon, we don’t know why / But we believe you are with God on high.”

The song has received over 800,000 views and thousands of comments from viewers who appreciated Mr Wise’s gesture and shared their sympathy. Some of the comments read: “This is so touching. May God rest their souls in eternal peace” / “Mr Wise you have a big heart. Thank you for this song. It has brought tears to my eyes” / “This is the most painful thing I have ever seen. May God give strength to their families and friends.”

Mr Wise is known for his gospel songs that address various social issues and inspire hope and faith among his listeners. Some of his other songs include “Thank You Mr President”, “Corona Virus”, “Mama Africa”, and “Njia ya Msalaba”. He has over 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel .

The Mwingi bus tragedy has also sparked a public outcry over the poor state of roads and bridges in some parts of Kenya, especially during the rainy season. Many Kenyans have called on the government to improve the infrastructure and ensure the safety of travellers. Some have also blamed the driver for his negligence and urged other drivers to exercise caution and avoid crossing flooded rivers.

The government has promised to investigate the cause of the accident and take appropriate action. The Kenya Red Cross and other humanitarian agencies have been providing assistance to the survivors and the bereaved families. The Catholic Church has also offered spiritual support and counselling to the affected community. A mass funeral for the victims is planned for December 11, 2021 at the Mwingi Catholic Church.

The Mwingi accident Rest in peace song By Mr Wise is a touching tribute that honors the memory of the choir members who lost their lives in the tragic incident. It also serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with our loved ones. As Mr Wise sings in the chorus: “We will miss you, we will love you / You will always be in our hearts / Rest in peace, rest in peace / Till we meet again.”
